Can we say hot? Although this summer came on suddenly, it has been fierce, so we are happy that so many of you came out in the heat to our Meeting on July 18, 2023.

It was Demo Night at Raincross Quilt Guild, and the program was filled with interesting demonstrations from Cassandra Gray (Sashiko), Rose Solis (sewing on vinyl), Chris Kerns (book covers) and Elizabeth Eastmond (English Paper-piecing). Click below to download any handouts.

Cassandra didn’t have a handout for her Sashiko, but asked that I post a link to Sashiko resources. The woman who runs the shop, Carol Ziogas, is teaching in January at Road to California, and her shop is Kimonomomo on ETSY. The above sample is from Carol.
Many thanks to Dawn, our Program Chair for putting this together!

Another presentation of Quilts of Valor was done this month, and we appreciate all those who helped by making quilts, attending and for all the work you do. We had some beautiful red, white, and blue masterpieces being given to our vets. Here are some photos:

First off, the Round Robin Challenge had three finished quilts presented:

Congratulations to Barbara Mathews, Rene Phares and Linda Kim for completing their Round Robin Challenge.
Next was Show and Share. We’ve arranged them in rows with three across (it may look differently if you are on a mobile phone):

Those who brought quilts are (l to r):
Top Row: Debbie Warner, Carolyn Tuinstra, Chris Kerns
Row 2: Lorraine Halverson (all)
Row 3: Patti Huddleston, Linda Kim (twice)
Row 4: Linda Kim, Barbara Kaiser, Sharon Gross
Bottom Row: Sharon Gross, Laure Dike

Note from your Communications Chair: Publication dates for the blog are generally about a week before our meeting as well as a week after the meeting. The week before our General Meeting we — yes, that’s us up there — write about the meeting-to-come, any announcements, reminders, and info about our Program.
The week after, we publish anything that went on during the meeting, photos (if we have them), and announcements. We also try to publish the Minutes for both the Board Meeting and the General Meeting, and any other details as they come to us.
Last thing: The Bylaws are coming! The Bylaws are coming! See this page for background.
DEADLINE FOR NEXT POST ON THE WEB IS AUGUST 8TH AT 9 P.M. Send any items to our guild email: raincrossqg@gmail.com If you miss the deadline (it happens), we’ll put it on the next post.
Next Month’s Meeting on August 15th: Rose Rhoads will be our Guest Speaker. More information will be coming, but plan on meeting with us then!
