Yep–you heard us correctly! It’s time for our annual guild Trash to Treasure sale, with you providing the goods to be sold.
We know you’ve only had a week or two to get it together, but it’s time! Empty those closets of quilts you don’t want, kits you’ll never make, the 10 extra packs of buttons, needles and don’t forget the thread you won at the quilt show — we want you to get rid of it all…to us!! You need the space, we need the inspiration (you know how new stuff lights a fire), so get ready! It’s here!
It will be this Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Because we need all the space, please don’t bring anything for the freebie counter. The doors open at 5:30, with the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. See you then!!
What do I do to get ready?
- Go through your stash, your notions drawer, that bin (or five) in the garage, and pull out things you think would spark another quilter’s interest, things that you know you aren’t going to sew. Be realistic.
- Fill out the form and send it to Maria Copak, or drop it by. DEADLINE IS THIS SATURDAY.
- Maria will send you some tags, with your selling number.
Click to download the form. Find Maria’s address on our Guild list in the Members Only Corner, and send it off. Alternatively, you could scan the form — or take a well-lit, clear photo of the completed form — and email it to her. If you have PDF-friendly software, type it out and email it. But like all those political ads that are everywhere in our social media feeds, DO IT TODAY!! Like, NOW.

Filling out the form, find an envelope and a pretty stamp took 4 minutes. You have four minutes today, right? Then you can start digging for things to sell all this weekend. Suzy Seamstress designated 20% to the guild, but that is optional. After the sale, the guild will deduct what you so generously share, and send you a check for the remainder. All the info is on this next download:
We sent this handout to you by email last week, but here it is again, if you want to download it. Can’t wait to see what you bring! Download the form! Fill it out! Get it to Maria!

Bring some!
While it can be a bit chaotic at the Show and Share sign-in table, don’t hesitate to share with us your beautiful creations. It’s one of the favorite part of our meetings!

August: Trash to Treasures. Come to Guild Night ready to sell, and ready to buy. We’d prefer cash, if you have it, and for those who are pricing, be kind and round off the numbers.
September: Tina Curran will be presenting her lecture, “My Design Process — From Concept to Quilt.” Her workshop will be held November 9th and will be her Whimsical Garden Quilt. You can find her on Instagram, or ETSY, or at her website.

Here’s the final project. She writes: “As a quilt pattern designer, I am often asked if my designs come to me fully formed. The answer, of course, is, ‘No.’ The goal of this lecture is to demystify the design process I use by breaking it down into its elements. I’ll provide many examples of the design & execution challenges I’ve faced and my solutions to overcome them. My hope with this lecture is to inspire other quilters to design their own quilts.”

Her Whimsical Garden quilt (25″) will be our workshop November 9th. More details will be coming.

October: Still Under Construction
November: Our Annual Exchange Game (details to follow)
December: Annual Christmas Potluck
Please note there is a date change for our January 2025 meeting. It will be switched to January 29th, so it doesn’t conflict with Road to California.
There is more construction going on around this website, so please check back soon for updates on our Community Projects. As always, our minutes are found on the tab marked Minutes. There is lots of information there.
If you have news for our Guild, or something of interest from the greater quilt world, send any items to our guild email: raincrossqg@gmail.com
If you miss the deadline (August 22, 2024), we’ll put it on the next blog post. If you have any corrections or additions to this post, please send them to our email. Thank you! For more info, please refer to the minutes of this meeting, which will post approximately three weeks from now.
