So fun to see everyone this past meeting. Thank you for coming, and many thanks to Maria and Fern, our Program Chairs, for bringing Tina Curran to speak at our Guild.

Tina Curran’s program was fascinating, centered around designing our own quilts.

This quilt, Whimsical Garden, will be the workshop project, which will be held November 9th. The cost is $50. Please see Maria Copek if you are interested.

Happy Fall, y’all! I think it’s finally here! Cooler days, crisp nights – leaves falling everywhere!
Our speaker last week, Tina Curan, was great! I had no idea that you could design quilts on Word! Even if you’re a seasoned quilter, there’s always something new to learn! Mark your calendars now – Nov 9 – at the Lake Mathews Community Room, for her workshop, Whimsical Garden. Looks like a fun and fairly easy project. Get your $50 in to save your spot. We can now take credit/debit cards, just remember there’s a processing fee added.
Next month, don’t forget to bring your favorite Fall and/or Halloween projects for a special show and share. I will not be there to share in the spooky goings-on, but I’ll be there in spirit! Maria Copak will lead the meeting in my absence and you’ll be pleased to know that the tables will be back!
See you in Nov for our annual exchange – a table runner/topper (any size or theme), WITH A LABEL (name, date). Make sure you wrap it. Until we meet again – BE CREATIVE!!
PS I heard back from Road to CA regarding the Guild spotlight. I’m going out on a limb and saying, “yes”, we can meet the requirements, put our name in the hat! They’ll be drawing on Oct 2. Here’s what we need: No more than 72″ long, and less than 100″ wide, with a 4″ attached sleeve at the top. We need 40 – 44 quilts and 4 people to assist in the hanging on Saturday, Jan 18, 2025.

Susan Miller, along with Jeri Read, has graciously agreed to host the Mystery Quilt for 2024-2025, and the first block, a charming little bird, is up on the Block of the Month page. You’ll need to purchase two yards of background fabric for the entire quilt. For this month, please make three birds.

from Phyllis Hodel:
Update on our workday at Easy Quilting Corner. The shop owner, Faten, has changed our day to the first Friday of the month so the next workday will be October 4th. Veterans Day is fast approaching and we would like to get as many tops quilted and bound as possible. Those doing the binding, if they can sew on the label and wash them, that would also be a tremendous help. I have 6 quilts ready but already but they are already assigned. I’m working with the Goeske Center to be on their November Veterans Day program and would like to have as many extra quilts available to award to Veterans in attendance. Call me if you can assist with getting them quilted, 951 236 2879.
Lastly, February 1, 2025 is National Quilt of Valor Sew Day. We will schedule that at the Lake Matthews Center. See all info on the Community Projects Tab, above.
