So many fun projects and quilts made from some pretty ugly fabric! But you all outdid yourselves, making all quilters everywhere proud of you. Thank you for all the inventive ways you used your fabric. We were all glad to gather together and celebrate quilting, so here we go with all the pictures (many thanks to our photographer!). But first: a note from our President.

Happy June, fellow quilters!
LOTS of things coming up at the next meeting – you don’t want to miss it!!
First, we’ll be voting to accept the amended By-Laws and Standing Rules. Both of the draft documents are on the Guild website for you to peruse – please do! The revision committee did an amazing job of hammering out the new documents – Cassandra Gray, Maria Copak, Vickie Mihelich, Evie Reinstra, BJ Kaiser, and myself – meeting several times and additional time on their own. BRAVO ladies!
One point to note is that we’re changing our membership year back to Feb 1 through Jan 31. Half a year’s dues are due at our next meeting – $20.
Next, are election of Guild officers. All of the current Executive Board are on the ballot. If anyone else would like to run for an office, please send the names to the Guild email.
And, of course, we don’t want to forget that we’re going back to a potluck “light dinner” at every meeting, starting this month. Birthdays in Jan through April will be supplying the goodies this time.
A BIG thank you to Jennifer H. And Evie R. For heading up the Challenges! The next one is a 50% challenge due in Aug.
Also, a grateful shout-out to Susan M. And Jeri R. for doing a beautiful BOM design! Can’t wait to see the finished quilts at the June meeting!
I’d also like to acknowledge Barbara Filbin for all the time and hard work she has put into our QOV projects! I think she has some presentation events coming up! Everyone – keep those quilts coming!
And, last, but not least, we are still in need of a Retreat Coordinator (or two!), a Door Prize Chair, and a Virtual Team. Don’t be afraid to take on one of these positions – you’ll get LOTS of help!
Keep the AC and fans on and get those projects done!
Happy Quilting,
Barbara

A few months ago, Evie Rienstra and Jennifer Hayford asked us to bring a length of ugly fabric. Many of you signed up for this challenge and below, in the slideshow, are the results of all your hard work. Click to advance the slides, and enjoy the fun challenge!
Those who won prizes were Lorraine Halverson, Katy Haley, Ronda Gilbert, and Sue Carter. Congratulations to them!
Our next challenge is a 50% Challenge, due in August. Choose a project that’s only 50% or less finished and finish it up. That gives you ALL of June, ALL of July and three weeks in August. Can’t wait to see those finished projects!!

We had such a great collection of Show and Share quilts, that again, we put them into a slide show for you to enjoy. Click on the arrow to advance the display of great quilts.
Dorothy Martinez, Pam Waters, Susan Helliar, Barbara Mathews, Barbara Filbin, Nancy Roth, Katherine Rolletta, Joan Moreno, Amy Printup, Linda Kim, Ann Meuse, and Nancy Poole shared their completed quilts and other projects.

Thank you to all who made Survivor Bags. We are collecting all sorts of wonderful bags from all different kinds of fabrics — the variety makes it useful when they have to get packed up. For more information found on our website, click here.

Joan Moreno is coordinating the new project of making cat carrier covers. The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center is seeking volunteers to sew cat carrier covers for the shelter cats. The shelter is a “Fear Free Shelter” and believes covering carriers during transport helps reduce stress for the animals. Volunteers can take home the needed blankets and sew them into covers, which can then be returned to the shelter. If interested, contact volunteer@petsadoption.org. Please use breathable fabrics for summer, and save the flannels and fleece for winter. See Joan for more info, or check our Community Projects Page.

At our meeting, Barbara Filbin showed 2 finished quilts (above). Currently there are 16 ready to present, but we need about 25. Barbara has 3 kits ready and 2 quilts ready to be quilted, but the Goeske Center has a list of 10 more veterans to be given quilts. If you want to join us, the monthly QOV Sew Day at Goeske Center on the first Wednesday of the month from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. See our Community Projects Page for general info.
All of this information is taken from the General Meeting Minutes, where there are more announcements and much, much more information. The General Meeting Minutes can be found here; click on May’s meeting date to read them and to keep up with all the goings on in the Guild.

We did it! Look at all these finishers! We’ve steadily been working on our Block of the Month quilts, designed by Susan Miller with sample made by Jeri Read. And CLICK the right arrow to check out this parade:
These are so fun to see–thank you all who finished their tops! See the Block of the Month page for 2024-2025 for more info. See you later with your finished quilts!

If you miss the deadline (June 12, 2025), we’ll put it on the next post. If you have any corrections or additions to this post, please send them to our email. Thank you! For more info, please refer to the Minutes of this meeting.
VOTING FOR THE REVISED BYLAWS IS NEXT MONTH! Please read them and come ready to approve/disapprove the changes. We ran the two versions through AI, and the main changes are in some of the people listed on the Board, the reverting to a February-January fiscal year, and some clean-up on Aisle 5 (meaning, streamlining the language). Vote yes to pass the revisions!
Our next General Meeting is Tuesday, June 17 2025, at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30, so come early for a good seat. See you then!
