Guild General Meeting

New Board Members, New UFO Challenge! General Meeting • June 17, 2025

We had a wonderful June meeting. We had 6 new members: Marjorie Sholes, Ruth Wood, Hilda Irias, Amy Printup, and Ken and Rebecca Gibson.

We voted and approved the amended by-laws and standing rules. Many thanks to the entire team who worked so tirelessly to make this happen.

We voted on our new executive board, well really our old board with a few changes of titles. Many thanks for all of these ladies who keep out guild going.

Barbara Mathews announced vacancies remaining on the General
Board and asked anyone who wished to volunteer to let her know:
o Community Projects
o Retreats (new member, Amy Printup volunteered)
o Door Prizes (new member, Rebecca Gibson volunteered)
o Ways and Means
o Virtual Team

Guild will be returning to a calendar year (February 1 to January 31) and interim 6 months dues of $20 are due now. Pay at the membership desk during a meeting or on the website.

Here we are in the thick of summer already – vacations, family reunions, kids out of school. I know I really enjoy being able to leave the meeting when it’s still light out!

When it’s too hot to go outside, just crank up the AC, pour yourself a tall glass of your favorite cold drink and start tackling those UFOs!  It seems there is no end to them!  OR, maybe it’s a good time to do some purging and organizing!

There are a lot of opportunities in our Guild to work on various charity projects or sew with friends in person, virtually or at a retreat.  Maybe learn a new technique!  With some of our upcoming speakers we’ll be able to do just that!

Whatever you do, do it with JOY! Stay cool and hope to see you at our 4th Saturday Sew Day !

Happy June, fellow quilters!

Evie Rienstra announces a new challenge.

Our next challenge is a 50% Challenge, due in August. Choose a project that’s only 50% or less finished and finish it up. That gives you ALL of June, ALL of July and three weeks in August. Can’t wait to see those finished projects!!

We had a great collection of Show and Share quilts.

Thank you to all who made Survivor Bags. We are collecting all sorts of wonderful bags from all different kinds of fabrics — the variety makes it useful when they have to get packed up. For more information found on our website, click here. Remember, turning in one or more survivor bags at a guild meeting, gets you an extra door prize ticket.

All of this information is taken from the General Meeting Minutes, where there are more announcements and much, much more information. The General Meeting Minutes can be found here; click on June’s meeting date to read them and to keep up with all the goings on in the Guild.

Karen Dunivent brought the Make-N-Take projects from our most recent retreat at Viña Retreat Center. A great time was had by everyone! See our Retreat Page for more information (and read the Minutes, too!).

We did it! Look at all these finishers! We’ve steadily been working on our Block of the Month quilts, designed by Susan Miller with sample made by Jeri Read. And CLICK the right arrow to check out this parade:

These are so fun to see–thank you all who finished their tops! See the Block of the Month page for 2024-2025 for more info. See you later with your finished quilts!
