The Raincross Quilters Guild came together Tuesday, February 18, 2025, excited to listen to Kathy Voltzmeyer, a member of our Guild, and to see all her quilts. Thank you to all who came and thanks also to those volunteers who kept things running, from the Membership Chair Linda to our President, Barbara — we appreciate you all!
And as we will soon be running elections and having our Nominating Committee looking for volunteers, please think about ways you could step up to help keep our guild running. You can see a list of jobs here; not all need to be filled (some people are staying), but it gives you an idea of what we need.

Even though it’s not “official” yet, I believe Spring has sprung! I’m having a hard time staying inside to work on sewing projects – it’s just too beautiful outside!
If you missed February’s meeting in person, you really missed an amazing presentation by our own Kathy Votzmeyer. The story of her journey in discovering quilting was very interest, indeed! Even with the opportunity to look at her quilts up close, I had a hard time seeing her tiny stitches! Thank you, Kathy!
We have sooo much talent in our Guild – I’d love to spotlight other members who would like to share their work at a future meeting. It would also be wonderful to see more of our members at our Guild Sew Days – virtual (1st Wednesday of the month), and in person (4th Saturday of the month) – a fun time of sewing and fellowship.
May all your stitches be straight and true!
Barbara

As Barbara noted, we had a lovely time looking at and admiring the quilts that Kathy Voltzmeyer has made. From wonderful appliqué to tiny quilting stitches to beautifully done designs, the quilts were a treat for us all. Our photographer, Theresa Ortiz, did a great job at capturing them.

We had lots of fun quilts to see from teeny-tiny to very large! Thank you all for bringing them to share.

Here are three more quilts from our most recent Quilts of Valor sew day. Thank you, quilters!

Thank you to all who donated via our Door Prizes and Raffles!

As a reminder, here are the rules for our Ugly Fabric Challenge, due in May:
Ugly Fabric Challenge Guidelines…
Use a minimum of the equivalent of 1/4 yard of your ugly fabric in your creation. If your
creation is too small to use that much, then use enough to be sure your ugly fabric is
clearly noticeable. Your challenge fabric does not need to be the focus of your creation.
Set aside a swatch of your ugly fabric that is about 4″ square. Pin this piece to your
finished creation so everyone will know which fabric was the object of your challenge.
Enter your challenge in one of the following four categories. You decide which category
fits your creation best:
▪ Quilts large or small.
▪ Wall hangings.
▪ Table toppers or sets.
▪ Wearables and bags.
Challenges are due in May and must be finished. Adding a label to your creation is
optional, not required. There will be prizes for Viewers’ Choice in each category.
If you have news for our Guild, or something of interest from the greater quilt world, send any items to our guild email: raincrossqg@gmail.com If you have any corrections or additions to this post, please send them to our email. Thank you!
