Hello, quilty friends,

What a fun meeting last Tuesday!  Lots of yummy food, and quite an array of patriotic projects were paraded across the stage!  (We should have had fireworks!)  We’ve got some mighty talented ladies in our Guild!

I hope you had the opportunity to celebrate this grand country we live in (even with all its foibles and flaws!)  I had the privilege of fraternizing with the likes of Geo. Washington, Thos. Jefferson, Ben Franklin and other Founding Fathers at the HUGE Colonial Heritage Festival in Orem, UT over the 4th.  There were fireworks aplenty for several days leading up to the 4th and that night was ear-splitting, but with a beautiful display of color in the sky!

It’s definitely vacation time for a lot of you – I hope you have a chance to stop at quilt stores in other parts of the country and find some treasures!

I can’t wait to see everyone’s 50% UFO Challenge next month. I’ve unearthed several REALLY old ones (1997, 2003!) that I’m trying to finish.

Keep those 1/4″ seams straight and true!

See you in August.

Barbara

Pam Waters announced that during September, October, and November she will be working on a “Big Basket” of wonderful goodies to be raffled at the December meeting. Tickets for that drawing will be on sale at all three meetings.

Thank you to all who made Survivor Bags. We are collecting all sorts of wonderful bags from all different kinds of fabrics — the variety makes it useful when they have to get packed up. For more information found on our website, click here. Remember, turning in one or more survivor bags at a guild meeting, gets you an extra door prize ticket.

Congratulations on your hard work and many thanks for sharing to Linda McKenna, Dorothy Martinez, Carrie Alldis, Joyce Stanger (via Dorothy Martinez so no picture), Linda Kim, and Paula Wilcoxen.

The Angie bags were created many years ago full of someone’s extra sewing items. Two such bags were eventually created and passed around. The monthly volunteer recipient, takes the bag, goes through it, taking what would be useful to them and then adds to it from their own surplus items. Somehow, in the intervening months, both bags have disappeared. If anyone remembers who last had the bags, please speak up. This notice will also be posted on our Facebook page.

Our current challenge is a 50% Challenge, due in August. Choose a project that’s only 50% or less finished and finish it up. That gives you ALL of June, ALL of July and three weeks in August. Can’t wait to see those finished projects!!
