(Apologies for the late Recap Post–Hurricane Hillary put a dent in my plans!)

We were treated to a fun and wonderful presentation at Guild on Tuesday, August 15th, by Rose Rhoades.

She led out with the Bag Ladies in a song-and-dance, getting us ready for an array of quilts and stories. She also handed out a pattern for her Lucy Goosey, an alter-ego who comes along for the fun. A pattern is available in our Members Only section, as well as Rose’s address if you want to send her a block. Here are some photos of her quilts (click to enlarge):

Thanks to all who came out to listen, as presentations like this inspire us to keep going, to keep quilting. Thank you to our Program Chair/Vice President as well!

We had a wonderful array of quilts and projects at our Show and Share. As always, click to enlarge:

Be sure to tell a congratulations to these quilters at our next Guild meeting.

Hope you are all working like mad on your Fabric Challenge for our September meeting. Contact Dawn Babbe if you need more challenge fabric, as she has extra. Address is on the Member List in the Members Only section of this website. Here are three of the ideas that are on this website, along with patterns!

- A N N O U N C E M E N T S
- IT’S COMING: The September Challenge, titled Flower Power Challenge, is next month. The four categories are: quilts, wallhangings and runners, bags and wearables. Finish up (or start) your project now for the big event.
- The Raincross Guild Executive Board Meeting is the second Tuesday of the month. See Jeri Read for more information. When available, minutes of that Board Meeting will be posted up under the History tab, above. The Zoom code to join is in Members Only, but please drop Jeri a note letting her know you’ll attend.
- Beach Retreat!! If you are coming, please reserve your spot with Barbara Mathews by filling out the form and your check and handing them to her. Form is downloadable and is found HERE. We only have 3 slots available — sign up now!
- Please see Phyllis or Sandy to help with turning our 40 Quilts of Valor quilt tops into quilts. We need quilters, so if you are a quilter and have room in your schedule, or know of someone who would be happy to volunteer their time, please contact these two ladies.
- We’ve added some new Saturday Sew-days to help make charity projects. They will be the third Saturdays of September, November and December and it will be held at the Goeske Center. Check the calendar on the right side of our blog of these events, as well as the 4th Saturday Sew-days (held at the Lake Mathews Community Room). There will be no Sew Days in October because of the Beach Retreat.
- We have an update on the Bylaws Page.
DEADLINE FOR NEXT POST ON THE WEB IS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH, AT 9 P.M. Send any items to our guild email: raincrossqg@gmail.com
If you miss the deadline (it happens), we’ll put it on the next post.
Not only did we just have a hurricane tropical storm, we are mindful of those in Hawaii who are suffering because of the recent firestorm. Here are two ideas for helping.

Berene Campbell ( Happy Sew Lucky Patterns) is donating all the proceeds of her Aloha Quilt Pattern to Maui Rapid Response Organization (www.mauirapidresponse.org). They are a collective disaster response organization made up of individuals from Maui-Mutual-Aid, Maui-Strong, and a number of nonprofit and direct-aid organizations. Berene has often reached out and helped others through charity. She has several ideas of how to use this pattern on her ETSY site. (I’ll be making one for a granddaughter whose honeymoon was cut short by the fires, sleeping one night in their car.)

Another way is to make a quilt. One lead on this is through the Maui Quilt Shop (their banner, above). They have specific requirements for quilts headed their way, so be sure to check their website for what they can use. Be aware that you’ll have to ship it over to them yourself.
