Quilty Friends,

Thank you for all being patient with the surprise room setup on Tuesday. Many hands made light work – Thank you to all, Hopefully, the misunderstanding has been resolved so back to normal in February,

Kay did an amazing job telling of her Indonesian journey – fascinating! I wanna squeeze into her suitcase for the next trip.

I was fun meeting with the stash reveal – what a variety of projects, and the talent amazes me!

I hope you all had a chance to visit Road 2 California – the quilts on display are just outstanding and inspirational. I actually bumped into Eleanor Burns on the vendor floor! Of course, the only thing on my list to buy was thread, but did I leave with any?? No! But I had lots of fun.

Stay inspired!

Barbara.

Pam Waters explained that each month as well as the regular Blue Bags, there will be an additional special drawing for a door hanger kit.

For every $5 spent on the Blue Bag drawing, members will earn 1 ticket for the Door Hanger Drawing.

We’ve started a new tradition by donating non-perishable food items to the Janet Goeske Senior Center Food Pantry at each monthly Guild meeting,

Remember, a donation will earn you an extra ticket to our door prize drawing.

Our members are so creative and productive. Thank you to everyone who brought a project or two to share. This time of the year gets so busy, but we somehow find time for making quilts, Much love to everyone who participated.

Make Quilts, Travel, Repeat

Kay Whiteside gave a brief background on her many travels with a group of quilting friends. She then shared highlights and “goodies” from her most recent trip to Indonesia, visiting batik factories and trying her hand at the process herself.

January 2026

Welcome to this year’s BOM. We start today and will share finished quilts in December. Blocks will be of different sizes – that’s unusual but correct.

First you will need to collect fabrics.

Start with 2 yards of background – we are using a white on white.

Next choose a print for a focus fabric (1 yd). We looked for one with two dominant colors.

Finally collect scraps/fat quarters that coordinate with each of your dominant colors. That being said you may choose to make your blocks scrappy. Finished size of quilt before borders 42” x 54”.
