Dear Raincross members,
As we speak, I’m enjoying a little bit cooler weather up in the mountains at a quilt retreat. Such wonderful stories and memories are shared at gatherings like this. It feeds the soul!
Even people you don’t know well become best buds! Good food, good talk and LOTS of shared ideas and goodies!
Our quilt guild sponsors two amazing retreats – one in the Fall, close by and inexpensive, the other in beautiful Temecula wine country for a longer stay – and worth it!
Step out if you’re comfort zone and sign up!
Keep cool and have fun with your fabric (and I mean do more than just look and fondle your fabric – LOL!)

- Goeske has implemented new rules for their facility.
- Everyone must check-in at the kiosk.
- If your phone number is not found, you must check-in as a guest and fill out a form from the Goeske front desk.
- All members receive a membership booklet at the meeting from the check-in desk.

Why go to the trouble of putting a label on the back of your quilt? We had 4 stations of “Why”, “Where” and “How”.
Barbara Mathews shared samples and their importance to a project.
BJ Kaiser shared labeling using paper-backed fabric and the computer.
Rose Ornelas shared hand-embroidered labels made with a lightbox.
Kay Whiteside demonstrated sewing a corner label.
Angie Nudge, Barbara Mathews, Emily Nudge, Pam Waters, Michelle Robbins, Kay Whiteside, and Vickie Mihelich shared their lovely quilts and projects.
Nancy Roth shared several quilts/blankets members had made for Project Linus.
Out last workshop on Collages led by Barbara Mathews, is still producing finished projects.

Quilts of Valor – Chair, Barbara Filbin
- Next awards ceremony will be Saturday, August 29, 2026, 12:30 p.m. at the Goeske Center, Ken Calvert room. She has need of two more helpers to join her.
- November Award (in conjunction with Goeske’s Veteran’s Day Event) will be Friday, November 13th. Contact Barbara Filbin to volunteer as a helper.
SEW IT FORWARD

- 10 participants joined her for the kick-off meeting on Wednesday, August 12th, working on various projects and making kits.
- The group was able to share ideas on what worked and didn’t work (A/C was off!) and basics of what basics might be needed at future meetings.
- The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 9th from 10-2 at Goeske.
Special News!
- Our guild has been asked to make a quilt to donate to the “Festival of Trees” auction benefitting UCR Medical Pediatrics.
- Jeri Read has agreed to lead the project and a beautiful holiday quilt pattern has been chosen. Please see Jeri to see what you can do to help.
At the general meeting, it was announced that registrations are now open for non-members for both retreats.
